And, they plan to unveil, at the British Championships Jan 7-8, the routine they hope will land a 2d Olympic gold in Lillehammer, Norway, in 1994. But the golden couple of British skating gave few clues at a news conference today as to what will succeed their legendary Bolero program, which mesmerized the world at the 1984 Sarajevo Winter Games. Though they chose the music for their new routine several months ago, Dean declined to reveal details. He did say, however, that the 4-minute routine will be as innovative as their hypnotic interpretation of Bolero and the famous Mack and Mabel and Barnum programs that brought them 2 of their 4 world titles. Torvill and Dean, both 35, have performed in ice shows since leaving the competitive scene a decade ago. They're already aware of the transition involved in returning to competition--namely having to abide by strict ice dance regulations once again. "Being away for 10 years and coming back, we want to stay within all the rules and regulations and be as creative and entertaining within those rules and guidelines," said Dean. After the British championships, the ice dance committee will select the couple to represent Britain at the European Championships in Copenhagen in January, the Olympics in February and the World Championships in Makujari, Japan, in March.
